Learn more at repurpose.global.\n\nThis position is remote-only for East Coast candidates, but we prefer candidates based in New York to join our hybrid work environment.\n\nResponsibilities\nBackend Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable server-side services and APIs, with a focus on performance, reliability, and security.\nInfrastructure & DevOps: Own and evolve our cloud infrastructure on AWS, including CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, monitoring, and cost optimization.\nFull-Cycle Development: Contribute across the full software development lifecycle — from architecture and planning through implementation, testing, and production deployment.\nCodebase Enhancement: Optimize the existing codebase to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability.\nCollaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (product, design, and other engineering teams) to translate requirements into technical solutions.\nAI Tooling & Technology Evaluation: Stay updated with industry trends, specifically in advancements in AI technologies. Propose adoption of new technologies where applicable to enhance the product’s and company’s capabilities.\nRequirements\nBackend Expertise: Deep experience building robust, scalable, production-grade applications using Node.js or related backend frameworks. Strong understanding of API design (REST and/or GraphQL), service architecture, and performance optimization.\nInfrastructure & Cloud: Hands-on experience with AWS (or comparable cloud platforms) and modern DevOps practices — including infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CDK), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipeline management.\nDatabase Knowledge: Proficiency in working with databases (SQL, NoSQL), designing schemas, optimizing queries, and ensuring data integrity.\nSecurity & Reliability: Familiarity with backend security best practices, observability tooling, and building fault-tolerant, highly available systems.\nAI Technologies: Experience with building, or interest in learning, agentic workflows.\nTypeScript Proficiency: Strong knowledge of TypeScript as it pertains to backend systems and data modeling.\nFull-Stack Awareness: Working knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and modern frameworks (React, Vue, etc.) to collaborate effectively across the stack.\nAgile & Collaboration: Comfortable working in an Agile environment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.\nQualification\nA degree in Computer Science, plus a minimum of 4 years of professional experience in software development, ideally in a cloud-based modern stack.
