Provides customer service face to face interaction and over the phone. Tickets and weighs trucks in a fast-paced environment. Work schedule during summer months is expected to be 40-50 hours per week with some Saturday shifts required. During the off season, work hours may be reduced and can be flexible.\nDUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)\nAssist with scheduling and dispatch workers, work crews, equipment, or service vehicles to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, or needs, using radios or telephones.\nAnswering the phone to provide accurate and timely information to customers in a courteous and professional manner.\nConfer with customers, supervisors, contractors, or other personnel to exchange information or to resolve problems. Clear and effective communication skills are necessary.\nMonitor personnel or equipment locations and utilization to coordinate service and schedules/report any safety issues immediately to coordinate a resolution.\nOversee all communications within specifically assigned territories.\nReceive or prepare work orders.\nRecord and maintain files and records of customer requests, work or services performed, charges, expenses, inventory, and other dispatch information.\nRelay work orders, messages, and safety related information to or from work crews, supervisors, and field inspectors using telephones or two-way radios.\nApproaches others in a tactful manner; Reacts well under pressure; Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; Accepts responsibility for own actions; Follows through on commitments.\nAssist with cleaning scale house including the restrooms.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (types and extent of knowledge, skills or abilities an incumbent must possess to complete the job responsibilities satisfactorily)\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nStrong organizational skills.\nKnowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).\nAble to work independently and under time constraints.\nAbility to multi-task and work quickly.\nTime management & leadership skills.\nStrong attention to detail.\nPhysical stamina and safety knowledge.\nProblem-solving & critical thinking skills.\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)\nHigh school diploma or General Education Degree required.\nAbility to use basic office equipment, including computer, fax machine, photocopier and 10-key calculator\nAbility to provide and maintain proper driving license and acceptable driving record.\nADDITIONAL INFORMATION:\nKnife River is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
