You’ll work with purpose, learn every day and help shape a more sustainable future.\nWhat you’ll do\nPattern Construction: Skillfully select, cure, and laminate wood stocks, then use hand tools and precision machinery to sculpt highly accurate, durable patterns and core boxes that serve as the foundation for industrial castings.\nBlueprint Interpretation: Analyze complex engineering schematics and 3D CAD models daily to calculate precise dimensions, shrink allowances, and draft angles essential for successful casting extraction.\nQuality Control: Perform rigorous dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, and templates to ensure patterns meet exact engineering specifications within strict tolerances before production.\nTooling Maintenance: Inspect, repair, and modify existing patterns and tooling to extend their lifespan and accommodate engineering changes, ensuring continuous production efficiency.\nProduction Support: Build, mount, rig, and set up pattern equipment, perform pattern changes for production runs, and ensure timely preparation of patterns according to production schedules.\nSafety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.\nTravel Requirements: Minimal travel expected; primarily onsite work in the Candler, Florida facility.\nWhat you’ll bring\nMust-haves:\nExtensive experience in precision woodworking, lamination, and safe operation of shop machinery and hand tools.\nStrong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D CAD schematics.\nProficiency in foundry mathematics including calculating dimensions, draft angles, and metal shrink allowances.\nSolid background in quality inspection using precision measuring instruments to verify tight tolerances.\nNice-to-haves:\nExperience with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks and CAM software like CamWorks or NX CAM.\nUnderstanding of foundry processes and casting techniques.\nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.\nEffective communication and teamwork abilities.\nWhy join Weir?\nWe live our values we think safety first, do the right thing, respect each other, aim high, and delight our customers.
