Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities.Qualifications:Education/Certification/Requirements:High School Diploma or GED and meet one of the following requirements:Completion of 48 credit hours from an accredited institution of higher educationPossess an associate (or higher) degreeOR Passing score on the paraprofessional assessment-Must qualify for the required paraprofessional certificate (Educational Aide I) and meet the following requirements for certification:Experience working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent-Experience may be work in church related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed day-care centers, or similar experience.Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to work with students with disabilitiesAbility to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents orally and in writing.Ability to follow verbal and written instructionsStrong organization, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to use basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office SoftwareBilingual PreferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional Support:Provide targeted instruction and classroom support to students under the direction of a teacher, and work with individual students or small groups.Works closely with campus teachers to address the needs of students.Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.Student Management:* Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom.
