You will ensure the smooth operation of the client environment and address any\nescalated issues. You will work closely with clients to ensure their network infrastructure is\nrunning smoothly and efficiently, and that system changes are documented promptly. You\nwill take a hands-on approach to troubleshoot and resolve network issues onsite. You will\ncontribute to project teams for your clients and others, designing and implementing\nsolutions that enable our clients to meet their business objectives.\nIn this role you will report to the Manager of Engineering Services but operate with\nminimal supervision. When you are faced with a new challenge, you will be able to rely on\nthe expertise of your colleagues for technical advice and support. You will also participate\nin a regular On Call rotation, providing emergency support to clients outside of normal\nbusiness hours. Engineers at Optimal often work together on projects to leverage\nindividual expertise and to learn new skills (from design and build of new servers or\nsystems to deploying new networks for office moves).\nParticipate in a regular on call rotation\nLocation: Onsite at client sites (DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) area) 5 Days a week\nScheduled Weekly Hours: 40 (Full-Time)\nTravel Required: Location dependent\nResponsibilities\nQuickly and accurately identifying client needs and seeing the appropriate solution through from design to completion and documentation.\nServing as an expert resource to our clients, and to our internal staff for various tasks and projects.\nMastering a wide range of network environments and continuing to expand your skillset as the technology landscape evolves.\nAssist IT Strategic Consultants in driving project deliverables and outcomes.\nPerforms miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.\nReporting Relationship\nReports to: Manager of Engineering Services\nThis role has zero (0) direct report positions.\nAttributes\nTo be successful in this position employee's will have the following attributes\nTechnically Savvy. Internally and externally, you are known to be reliable, accountable, and trustworthy.\nSkills, Qualifications and Experience\nSkills\nMandatory\nStrong knowledge of customer service practices and procedure\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills, able to translate technical issues to non-technical people, in written, verbal, and non-verbal communications\nStrong troubleshooting, problem solving and diagnostic skills\nDemonstrated in-depth experience deploying, supporting, maintaining, and administering:\nMicrosoft Windows Desktop Operating systems\nMicrosoft Windows Server products (2016, 2019, 2022)\nHypervisor technologies (Hyper-V, VMware)\nMicrosoft Azure Cloud based services (IaaS virtual computing, storage, and networking)\nMicrosoft collaboration and productivity tools Microsoft 365\nOther key IT systems / technologies critical to business operations\nPractical experience in networking support including firewalls, switches, routers etc. (preferred exposure to SonicWall, Meraki, Cisco and Dell)\nDesirable\nExposure to and experience supporting Linux based operating systems\nExperience with Device Management software (Microsoft preferred: Intune, AutoPilot)\nQualifications\nMandatory\nTwo or more Microsoft Associate or Expert level certifications\nEX: Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate\nEX: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate\nDesirable\nITIL v4 Foundations Certification\nMicrosoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate\nSonicWall Network Security Administrator (SNSA)\nBA/BS in Information Technology or Business disciplines\nExperience\n3+ years of relevant experience.\nConsulting experience (preferred)\nProven customer service and problem-solving skills.
