In this role, you will have significant ownership over the design, development, and deployment of advanced software algorithms for our industrial computing platform. Your work will directly contribute to the efficiency, sustainability, and scalability of our KARNO product portfolio, and directly empower our mission to transform the global energy landscape.\n\nDuties and Responsibilities\nDesign and develop high-quality embedded code for the Karno Generator System.\nWork with software and hardware engineers in a collaborative product development team environment to architect, design and implement Best-In-Class Electrification and Software products.\nEfforts will include creating requirements, specifications, and test documents with Safety, Testing and Quality as critical elements from the start of any software project\nDevelop and rapidly deploy software products for on hardware testing.\nOwn direct controls software products from start to the very end, overcoming any obstacle in the way.\nReport and track issues that arise in deployed complex systems, as well as on the test stands that developed them. These issues demand clear understanding of the entire deployed system, which has hardware subsystems.\nParticipate in the design and implementation of the Hyliion CI/CD environment, which consists of automated build and regression testing in a simulated environment, and deployed environments.\nWork closely with all teams on our ISO26262 and UL compliant development environment as we drive our generator into the global energy landscape energy sector.\nDesign and maintain software architectures for embedded computing systems in industrial PC environments\nDevelop and manage APQP documentation including FMEAs and DVP&Rs.\nEnsure that software aspects of Hyliion products, meet all necessary safety, emission, and compliance requirements.\nAdditional duties and responsibilities as assigned, needed, or required for the business.\n\nQualifications\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\n\nQualifications include:\nEducation, Experience and Certifications\nBachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field.\n5+ years of experience developing technical products and working in a team environment.\nProven track record of deploying successful and reliable software across any of the various environments; including industrial, aviation, military, automotive, or commercial applications\nSkills and Abilities\nExperienced in writing and implementing low level drivers for MCU environments.\nExpert in communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, Modbus, UDP.\nExperienced in writing and performing unit tests.\nExperienced in writing and owning documentation for software components.\nExperienced in C/C++ and other scripting languages such as python or bash\nExperienced in a setting up cross-compilation toolchains and development environments for building and debugging software in embedded Linux systems\nExperience in developing customer-facing APIs for communication protocol integration\nExperienced in developing low-level code for the control of hardware subsystems, whether the subsystem is directly attached, or network attached.\nExperienced in working hands-on with electronics and hardware.\nExperience in Simulink software development is a plus.\nAbility to break down difficult problems into smaller sub-tasks that can be performed or distributed across a team.\nExperienced with source control methodology and tools such as Git.\nFamiliar with defect tracking systems such as Jira.\nFamiliar with the agile development process.\nStrong follow-through and self-starting nature.\nAbility to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.\nAbility to write clear and concise documentation.\nAbility to effectively work with a team to solve problems and participate in code reviews.\nAbility to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.\nAbility to work well in a high-paced environment, set and meet appropriate deadlines.\nWillingness and ability to perform hands-on work on a benchtop, at a test cell, or on-site at a customer deployment.\nWillingness and ability to work more than 8 hours a day to ensure that deadlines are achieved; weekly hours may regularly be between 50-60 during busy time periods.\nPosition will involve travel (10-15% of time) to visit, work with, and evaluate engineering providers and hardware suppliers.\nRole Classification and Working Conditions\nThis is a salaried, exempt-level position.
