The MBOP group (Mechanical Balance of Plant) is responsible for selecting fuel cell components that meet the requirements generated by the Systems group. Typical tasks include corresponding with and effectively collaborating with suppliers to enable selection of optimal hardware, generating component specifications from component level requirement documents, working with suppliers to develop custom components when necessary, generating component‑level models, running performance tests (e.g. pump head vs. flow) and/or accelerated durability tests, and conducting component‑level testing of new or refurbished parts prior to installation into the powerplant. Critical focus on troubleshooting component noncompliance issues discovered in the factory or in the field. Ongoing focus on employee and career development of self and others within the discipline. This role requires a solid understanding of the fundamentals of the discipline and the role, while continuing to develop specialized discipline knowledge.
