POSITION LOCATION: 3310 Piedmont Road, Charleston, WV 25306Fulltime/Overtime EligibleSALARY: $51,716.22The Finance Specialist Clerk I performs entry-level accounting and financial support work involving routine transaction processing, data entry, and record maintenance. The position develops foundational knowledge of agency accounting practices, policies, and financial systems. Work is performed under close supervision within established procedures, with an emphasis on accuracy, compliance, and skill development in accounts payable, accounts receivable, wvOASIS, claims processing, and agency financial policies.Calculate, record, and generate property damage claims in accordance with established procedures.Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions under supervision.Receive, log, date stamp, review, code, and route invoices for approval.Enter financial and accounting data into wvOASIS accurately and timely. Assist with processing payables for assigned accounts Scan, file, and maintain accounting and financial records. Review transactions for completeness, accuracy, and policy compliance.Assist in resolving routine invoice and payment discrepancies.Assist with monitoring purchasing activity to support cost control and efficiency.Provide professional assistance to vendors and internal staff.Review and reconcile vendor statements.Provide weekly, a list of outstanding, past due or problem invoices to supervisor for review and discussion of resolution. Perform other related duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsHS Diploma/GED required.Must be able to pass background check.One (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable wvOASIS experience preferred.College-level coursework in accounting or finance may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.Other InformationThis job opportunity is not in the classified service and is not covered by the West Virginia Division of Personnel merit system.
