Shipping Supervisor
Position Summary:Leads day-to-day operational activities pertaining to the Shipping Department. Ensures material is picked, packed, shipped on time and in an efficient manner. Effectively delegate's workload to department leads and personnel. All while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.Essential Responsibilities:In addition to the Responsibilities of "Shipping Supervisor":Ensure all department equipment is in proper working condition (forklifts, pickers, crane, hand tools, etc.)Effectively communicates with department supervisors and upper management. Utilizes email to communicate with Receiving, Front Office, and Sales Departments.Manages Daily operational reports to identify workload and utilize OT as needed.Coordinates with Sales on any request, priority levels, and any issues that may arise.Coordinates with Logistics on outbound shipments (flatbeds, Motor freight, hot shots, etc.).Coordinates with QC on material discrepancies and non-conforming stock material.Process and handles picking tickets by effectively communicating with Sales, Department Supervisors, and QC.Supports Will-call traffic by efficiently loading orders in a timely manner.Manages loading dock space daily by communicating with Logistics and Sales.Effectively trains personnel on company processes and procedures, submits training records, and identifies areas that need additional training.Attends production meetings to identify departmental issues and discuss ways to correct them.Identifies areas of improvement while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.Manages shipping personnel on picking, packing, checking, and shipping processes.Effectively organizes and manages a team of 7 to 10 employeesDuties are not limited to those described above and may be expanded as neededDepartment Responsibilities:Quality Management Systems (QMS):Train on Department Work Instructions & Job ScopeTrain on Quality Policy and Department ProcessesProcess FlowConduct meetings and submit training recordsQuarterly competency reviews on personnelEffectively identify areas that need additional trainingSafety:Hold brief daily safety meetings with department personnelMaintain clear aisle ways and organize racks and dock spaceMaintain equipment checklistsQuarterly maintenance on equipment (hand tools, pickers, forklifts, etc.)Enforces and monitors "Lock-out/Tag-out" protocolCommunicates equipment breakdowns and safety hazards to upper management and HSEOngoing responsibility of creating and implementing a safe work environmentQualifications:Speak and read English. Bilingual Spanish a plus3+ years PVF industry experienceAbility to read and understand industry specifications, charts, and tablesHigh school diploma or GEDBasic computer skills. Experience with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.Must have average reading, writing, and mathematical skills.Capable of lifting 50 lbs.Able to stand and operate a variety of equipment as assignedTakes initiative and can work independentlyRequires a high level of attention to detailAble to handle multiple tasks and priorities
