Trial Attorney – Los Angeles Claim Litigation Office (Hybrid Role)State Farm Insurance is seeking a Trial Attorney to join our Los Angeles Claim Litigation office. Because our attorneys are not billed by the hour, they have the flexibility to strategically develop cases and prepare for trial throughout the litigation process. All hybrid employees spend designated time working in the office. Work arrangements may evolve over time based on business needsResponsibilitiesManage litigation and other legal assignments in alignment with guidelines set by the Law DepartmentPrepare and summarize reports related to legal proceedingsDevelop trial strategies and manage case progress through litigation phasesAttend and actively participate in litigation events, including trials, mediations, depositions, and hearingsRequired ExperienceMinimum of 3 years of relevant litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense, medical malpractice, personal injury, or workers’ compensation. Recent trial experience handling complex cases involving trials with significant exposure (beyond bench trials)Experience trying cases in the first or second chair is highly preferredKey SkillsThorough knowledge of local and state discovery rules, trial procedures, and applicable substantive law at an advanced levelProven experience handling trials, mediations, and depositionsStrong file ownership and case management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication abilitiesTechnology SkillsProficient working with electronic case filesExperience using Case Management systemsFamiliarity with Document Storage systemsEducation & LicensingActive California law license in good standing with the State Bar of California is requiredAdditional DetailsApplicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately.
