This librarian will play a vital role in coordinating instructional services and in furthering the research and teaching mission of Oglethorpe University. This role will be responsible for developing a robust instruction and outreach program, both in-person and online, for providing research consultations to both students and faculty, and for crafting online learning resources for the campus community. The Research and Instruction Librarian will develop classes and workshops that address a changing information and technological environment and will create learning materials and experiences to reach student and faculty audiences at their point of need.\nThis position promotes collaboration, develops dynamic learning experiences for students, and assists with development and implementation of assessment initiatives aimed at improving services and collections. This role also collaborates with a broad range of stakeholders to conceptualize, define, and deliver dynamic instruction and research consultation services. The Research and Instruction Librarian may also provide outreach to non-academic units, develop events and services that promote the library, and perform other duties/functions as assigned.\nDuties and Responsibilities: Coordinate, plan, and implement instruction services, in-person and online, including information literacy workshops, class-based instruction, and asynchronous online learning materials.\nTeach research instruction sessions for subjects and academic programs across campus, working strategically with the faculty and instructors to integrate information literacy into courses.\nCreate and maintain online instructional resources and guides for the Oglethorpe campus community.\nProvide reference assistance to members of the Oglethorpe community in a variety of formats, including research consultations and reference chat services\nEvaluate and assess the library’s instructional services and programs.\nCollaborate with faculty to develop, design, execute, and assess research assignments and projects to enhance student’s information literacy skills and knowledge.\nProvide outreach services and events for the Oglethorpe campus community, including orientation sessions for faculty and students.\nOffer orientations o library services to faculty and students\nPromote library services and resources to the Oglethorpe community\nCoordinates the selection, licensing, and delivery of electronic resources\nAssists in maintaining electronic resources and the library website by updating links, troubleshooting, and providing user support as needed.\nServe on staff and faculty committees\nAssist with library outreach, programming, and social media\nCommit to ongoing professional development, scholarly contribution, and service to the University and library profession.\nAll other duties as assigned by the Director of the Library.\nQualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Masters degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited program, or a related field\nExperience providing library instruction services in an academic library setting\nExperience providing reference services, including consultations and/or chat services, to an undergraduate student population\nDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented academic environment.\nStrong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills\nPreferred Qualifications Experience in planning information literacy education and research help services, with demonstrated knowledge of best practices.\nExperience in creating and maintaining online learning resources\nExperience in providing outreach services in an academic library setting\nPrior experience in an academic library setting\nWork Environment/Physical Demands: The position is in a normal office environment; an alternative work schedule may be required; typically requires sitting at a desk or table and repetitive wrist, hand or finger movement; occasional lifting up to 20 lbs; use of office equipment will also be required.\nApplication materials must include a Cover letter and Curriculum Vita (CV) or Resume.
