Machine OperatorUnder the direction of the Fabrication Supervisor, the Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a machine during the production cycle.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOperates and control machine settingsEffectively uses overhead cranes to lift steel onto machineFeeds material through the machine, creating specific cuts/holes into the columns and/or beamsIdentifies and loads correct electronic data, AutoCAD files and machine programs to complete the setup for each job.Examines work and check defects regularlyCompletes and maintains any required paperwork, records and documentsChecks work area for hazardsComplies with safety regulations and wears appropriate PPE at all timesLeaves work area in a clean/safe state when shift is completeQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required; or demonstrated extensive welding experience1-2 years of machine operating experience preferredPrior CNC programming experience is a plusOther skillsAbility to read, understand and interpret blueprintsAbility to understand measurements and use a tape measurerLanguage SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization. Bilingual English/Spanish helpful, but not required.Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, common fractions and decimals.Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instruction provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
