The individual must be able to react to changes in load demands as required, including during emergencies\nThe position will monitor the chemical feed system for water treatment and make necessary tests and adjustments to ensure correct chemical levels.\nManipulates valves to control the flow of water and fuel and to increase or decrease steam, water, and air as required. Adjusts equipment controls to correct malfunctions if they occur.\nObserves operating equipment, meters, and gauges to ensure that operation is in accord with specified instructions. Inspects boiler safety devices.\nReports abnormal operating conditions or major repair requirements to shift supervisor, and assists in implementing remedial action, and logs all information\nPerforms minor repairs, as necessary, such as replacing defective meters, packing valves, worn gaskets, and tightening joints.\nReceives calls from departmental personnel regarding problems, such as lack of temperature control. Relays information to shift supervisor of maintenance performed and logs all information down in the daily log book of any repairs or corrections.\nMaintains the boiler room and work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition. May clean and paint equipment as necessary\nAssists in the annual boiler inspection and prepares boilers for annual inspection\nDemonstrates personal commitment to the organization’s core values through active involvement in the quality improvement process.\nDemonstrates safe work practices and attitudes, follows all safety rules, works to prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participates in organizational and departmental safety programs.\nOther duties as assigned\nEducation and Experience:\nMaintaining mechanical systems utilizing Ammonia compressors, boilers, and compressed air.\n2+ years of progressive work experience in ammonia refrigeration, steam boilers, and air compressor operations and maintenance (preferred, not required)\nWorking knowledge of electrical troubleshooting all common types of ammonia central systems, control/alarm systems, water tube, and fire tube boilers, and compressed air systems (preferred, not required)\nValid Driver's license and ability to be added to corporate insurance\nAble to pass a physical examination and Respirator Fit Testing\nDemonstrate an understanding and adherence to all work safety policies, procedures, and governing requirements\nMaintain and manage job toolboxes in an accurate, neat, and orderly manner\nHAZ-MAT training is preferred but not required\nRETA 1&2 certification is preferred but not required\nRequired Skills & Abilities:\nPrior experience in manufacturing maintenance required, including machinery. Experience and comfort with the Microsoft Office suite and ERP or CMMS programs add value\nFamiliarity with safety standards and regulations\nForklift certification is preferred but not required.
