This is your opportunity to be part of history making projects.\n\nJob Summary\nThe Control Systems Senior Engineer is responsible for the engineering, coordination, and technical oversight of instrumentation and controls for the powerhouse and balance of plant systems. The role supports EPC execution through design development, interface management, constructability, and construction/commissioning support for a large hydropower facility comprising underground powerhouse, shafts, tunnels, intake/outlet works, and surface facilities, in accordance with customer requirements, applicable codes, and the project's engineering procedures.\n\nA key part of this role is collaboration with multiple stakeholders. The Control Systems Senior Engineer shall work with the team to establish regular meetings with design consultant and other external stakeholders as required and reporting cycles for managing, coordinating, and assuring the design.\n\nMajor Responsibilities\n\nReview conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design for BOP systems\n\nThis role will include working with the Design Subcontractor and discharging responsibilities as set out in the Management of Third-Party Engineering procedures.\n\nDevelop and check control systems design criteria, instrument lists, DCS design, logic diagrams, control room layouts, specifications, data sheets, and material requisitions consistent with operational, reliability, and safety requirements.\n\nCoordinate control system designs with Civil / Geotechnical, Mechanical, Electrical, Plant Design and Constructability teams.\n\nInterface with OEMs (turbine generator supplier, auxiliary equipment vendors) for control system integration into powerhouse systems.\n\nProvide Construction & Commissioning Support during execution including response to RFIs, Field change evaluations etc.\n\nSupport construction sequencing, installation constraints, and temporary power planning for underground works.\n\nParticipate in testing, energization, and commissioning support, including review of test procedures, energization and turnover sequencing.\n\nSupport operations readiness and commissioning teams.\n\nReview and approve control system deliverables to ensure compliance with technical requirements, project specifications and design criteria, applicable ISA codes, IEEE and ASME standards.\n\nParticipate in design reviews, constructability reviews, safety in design workshops, and HAZID/HAZOP reviews, with focus on underground powerhouse risks.\n\nCoordinate and manage the review of Control System deliverables produced by design consultant, including schedules, reports, critical issues, risks and providing feedback to Engineering Manager.\n\nChair discipline specific meetings, recording actions.\n\nRepresent the client in technical meetings and Value Engineering analysis.\n\nProvide guidance and ensure quality of design by independent engineering firms carrying out detailed design, including compliance with customer requirements, local design guidelines and codes, international codes and standards.\n\nActively support constructability and execution in underground environments, and contribute directly to safe, reliable commissioning and turnover of the project.\n\nApply safety in design principles appropriate for underground pumped storage facilities (fire, egress, electrical separation).\n\nEducation and Experience Requirements\n\nUniversity/College graduate with BS (or Master's degree) in Electrical or Control Systems Engineering or equivalent from a recognized Institute with an overall experience of 15 years.\n\nMinimum 5 years of progressive experience in control systems engineering for hydropower, pumped storage, or large power/infrastructure projects and demonstrated experience supporting powerhouse or BOP systems on at least one medium to large scale hydropower / pumped storage project.\n\nRequired Knowledge and Skills\n\nProfessional/Chartered Engineer preferred.\n\nKnowledge of current computer applications for control systems engineering and design including appropriate knowledge of CAD e.g., AutoCAD, MS Word, Excel, & Visio for managing design reviews.\n\nBroad knowledge of US government compliance standards.\n\nStrong knowledge of controls and instrumentation for pumped storage / hydropower auxiliary and BOP systems.\n\nAble to communicate technical information in writing and orally; to interrelate effectively with individuals and teams and have presentation skills.\n\nAble to work within a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team and manage challenging multi-cultural relationships across a range of entities.\n\nSelf-driven and able to plan and execute work without direct supervision from senior management and/or peers.\n\nFlexible and able to adapt to working in a demanding environment, including traveling and working remotely if / when required.\n\nFamiliarity with EPC execution, engineering workflows, and document control systems.\n\nExperience supporting commissioning and handover to Owner operations.\n\nTotal Rewards/Benefits\nBechtel offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employee well‑being and career growth.\n\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nBechtel is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
