The successful candidate will be responsible for writing research proposals; managing resulting programs with respect to schedule, budget, and technical objectives; and marketing the technology at trade shows and conferences.\nEssential job functions:\nWriting proposals to secure funding from government agencies and outside firms for research and development, or from Ultramet for internal research and development.\nChampioning new ideas for cutting-edge technologies.\nManaging multiple programs simultaneously.\nManaging the technical efforts of programs using sound engineering principles, creativity, and outside-the-box thinking to achieve the technical objectives.\nManaging the schedules and budgets of programs to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.\nWorking with other departments to achieve the goals of the programs.\nPerforming data analyses to support research, development, and production programs as needed.\nProviding technical support to other programs at Ultramet.\nMaking presentations and marketing Ultramet technologies at conferences, trade shows, and customer facilities.\nWriting and presenting papers at conferences and trade shows.\nWriting progress reports, final reports, closeout briefings, etc.\nRequirements:\nS., M.S., or Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, aeronautical engineering, materials science, or a related discipline.\nA minimum of three years of industrial experience working with advanced materials.\nA proven track record in running research programs, proposal writing, and/or program management.\nExperience with finite element modeling using either COMSOL or ANSYS\nExcellent communication and presentation skills.\nExcellent technical writing skills.\nAbility to travel to conferences and trade shows two or more times per year.\nExperience with materials for extreme environments and their application in areas such as hypersonics, rocket propulsion, turbine engines, and nuclear power is a plus.\nExperience with chemical vapor deposition of structural materials is a plus.\nS. citizenship is required.\n\nUltramet offers an attractive benefits program, and our employees enjoy medical and dental coverage, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, a competitive salary structure, and a generous vacation and holiday program.\n\nUltramet is an equal-opportunity employer.
