Together, we advance your career.THE ROLE:AMD is looking for a highly experienced and technically hands-on Software Engineer to work on the development of diagnostic software for next-generation data center products. This role is critical to enabling early hardware validation, ensuring long-term reliability, and accelerating time-to-market for complex platforms.THE PERSON:The candidate will play a central role in board bring-up, high-speed interface validation, and network switch diagnostics, working closely with cross-functional teams to support platform power-on, debug, and production readiness.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESLead qualification and validation of high-speed data center optical transceivers (400G/800G/1.6T), including electrical, optical, and system-level testingDrive vendor optics evaluation and selection, ensuring performance, interoperability, and quality across multiple suppliersPerform system-level debug of optical links, including module, host (NIC/switch), and cable interactionsDefine and execute test plans for PAM4 (100G/200G per lane) links, including BER, SI, jitter, and compliance validationValidate compliance with industry standards and CMIS MSA and ensure robust diagnostics and control integrationDevelop automation tools (Python) for test execution, data analysis, and reportingCollaborate cross-functionally with ASIC, system, optics, and thermal teams to resolve complex integration issuesContribute to next-generation interconnect technologies, including 212G Linear Drive Optics, and emerging CPO/NPO/XPO implement solutionsPREFERRED EXPERIENCE5+ years in optical networking or high-speed data center interconnectsHands-on experience with QSFP-DD, OSFP, QSFP112, and 400G/800G/1.6T optical modules and DAC/AEC solutionsStrong background in system-level optics validation, SI/debug, and link bring-upExperience with vendor qualification and cross-vendor interoperability testingFamiliarity with switch/NIC platforms (e.g., Broadcom Tomahawk or equivalent) and host-side integrationACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: B.S. or M.S. in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or relatedLOCATION: Santa Clara, California.This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.#LI-CS1Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.AMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
