He/she will be responsible for the day to day supervision of staff, effective planning, organization and supervision of multiple areas within the Specimen Processing department including all work processes and employees in order to meet customer and business objectives.\r\nResponsibilities\r\nProvide direct supervision and mentoring to processing and technical aide staff, supporting company vision, mission, business objectives and customer service standards.\r\nTrain employees in specimen receipt, processing and tracking procedures; promote positive communication with internal and external customers.\r\nCreate and distribute department schedules to meet client needs.\r\nMonitor and document employee performance; complete probationary appraisals; set meaningful goals; administer fair and unbiased corrective action.\r\nPerform Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement activities, applying Six Sigma principles and maintaining document control for reporting, root cause analysis and process improvements.\r\nAssist with department budget management by reviewing monthly variances.\r\nPrepare and submit bi-weekly payroll.\r\nInterview and recommend candidates for hire.\r\nPerform all duties of a Specimen Processor and Technical Assistant, including loading specimens onto instruments.\r\nEnsure accuracy and productivity through QA reviews, staff training and competency testing; deploy staff efficiently.\r\nSupport development and implementation of policies and systems to reduce errors, lower costs and improve productivity.\r\nServe as primary resource for resolving issues related to patient draws, orders and specimens.\r\nComplete training for new or updated procedures; develop training, orientation and competency materials as needed.\r\nEnsure compliance with all departmental, company, safety and regulatory requirements, including CAP and Joint Commission readiness.\r\nPromote teamwork, uphold company values and demonstrate positive customer service.\r\nFollow all regulatory and safety protocols, including universal precautions and proper waste disposal.\r\nPerform inventory checks and assist with stocking supplies.\r\nContribute to overall organizational effectiveness by performing other duties as assigned.\r\nQualifications\r\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's in lab, science or business management preferred.\r\nAt least three years of progressive leadership or supervisory experience in a lab, medical or production setting.\r\nProven leadership, strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal/written communication.\r\nStrong reasoning skills and sound independent judgment.\r\nAbility to meet deadlines and follow set timetables.\r\nConsistently high integrity and accuracy.\r\nProficient with Microsoft Office and related software.\r\nPreferred experience or training in laboratory science and specimen processing.\r\nDemonstrated dependability and strong customer service history.\r\nPhysical & Safety Demands:\r\nMaintain integrity and accuracy in specimen handling.\r\nCommunicate effectively and work well with others, including peers, supervisors and technical staff.\r\nDemonstrate professionalism in all in-person and phone interactions.\r\nPerform routine, detailed, procedure-driven tasks with strong attention to detail and deadlines.\r\nOrganize work efficiently and complete tasks on time.\r\nWork independently while meeting expected specimen-processing volume.\r\nStay calm and effective in high-stress situations.\r\nUnderstand and follow verbal and written instructions;
