Serves as a resource in developing and implementing processes that promote the OSHA VPP initiative including worksite analysis, hazard prevention & control, employee involvement, and safety & health training. Coordinates with all functional front-line management and supervision. This position will have direct supervision over the EHS, Facilities Maintenance and Wastewater Treatment departments.\n\nPrimary Duties and Responsibilities\n\n(25%) Administer the facility’s training system. Identify training needs and develop training content.\n\n(25%) Conduct or lead training in applicable OSH areas & maintain recordkeeping systems. Recognize hazards. Address employee OSH concerns. Conduct site inspections and audits. Perform sampling and monitoring.\n\n(15%) Work with EHS manager and other site leaders to ensure organization’s occupational safety and health (OSH) compliance.\n\n(15%) Implement corrective actions from findings generated by both internal and external audits. Manage capital and expense projects for EHS compliance, risk reduction, WWT, Facilities HVAC equipment, Sustainability and cost saving initiatives.\n\n(10%) Manage emergency response incidents including the onsite First Aid Attendants. Also, works with Human Resources to manage workers’ compensation claims and return to work programs.\n\n(10%) Supervise and lead the Safety coordinator, EHS interns, Facilities Maintenance and Wastewater Treatment Technicians.\n\nEducation and Experience Profile\n\nBachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science/Management or related field or an equivalent level of experience required.\n\nThree years of relevant work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.\n\nCertification as an Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Safety Professional (CSP) or Engineer preferred.\n\nRequired Skills\n\nAbility to read, interpret and apply government, safety and industrial hygiene regulations\n\nSix Sigma/ Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.\n\nExperience with modern factory management techniques desired (Ex. Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Demand flow technologies, Design of Experiment, etc.)\n\nStrong business acumen, analytical skills and ability to think strategically\n\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Ability to influence others sharing one’s point of view or position in discussion.\n\nDemonstrated ability to be a team player and self-starter.\n\nDemonstrate unyielding integrity in leadership and transactions.\n\nDeliver on time and on target commitments for the team.\n\nInspire excellence by setting stretch goals and recognize team accomplishments\n\nDevelop trust, accountability, commitment, and result through teamwork with caring and fun leadership.\n\nWorking conditions are normal for an office environment and non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility.\n\nMust be able to travel domestically 5% of time and internationally 5% of time.\n\nThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
