The project sits within the La Plata Mountains, on U.S. Forest Service land, with Metallic controlling parcels of private land within the project boundary, situated high on the La Plata range. Straddling Montezuma and La Plata Counties in Colorado's Four Corners region, the project hosts an inferred mineral resource of 181 million tons grading 0.36% copper equivalent, inclusive of silver, gold, platinum, and palladium. Beyond these primary metals, Metallic is evaluating more than 20 additional critical minerals, 14 of which are classified as strategic materials — resources the United States currently depends on foreign sources to supply. The person should be curious about mineral exploration, and preferably knowledgeable about site-based field work. Success requires sound judgment, cultural competency, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent, deadline-driven workstreams.This is a long-term contractor role with available short-term and long-term incentives.Key ResponsibilitiesCommunity and Tribal Relations•    Identify and meet with neighbors, NGOs, media, and other stakeholders, as well as neighboring Tribal Nations, including leading roundtable discussions on specific topics.•    Learn about each neighboring Tribe, and ensure that the project respects each Tribe’s sovereignty, culture, history, and ways of making decisions.•    Organize site visits for stakeholders and Tribal Nations.•    Plan and lead open house-style meetings across the project area (e.g., Breen, Durango, Cortez, Mancos), including logistics, materials, and follow up.•    Track and respond to public questions and concerns; compile and maintain the “What We Heard” and FAQ documents.•    Track key contacts, interactions and commitments for neighboring Tribal Nations and communities.Media & Communications•    Serve as a primary media contact, and build relationships with media outlets.•    Coordinate with the CEO and VP of Exploration to secure their authorization on external messaging and communication.•    Draft public-facing documents and website content about the project as necessary, ensuring technical language is easy to understand.•    Collaborate with the Vancouver-based Communications Lead to develop and implement the project’s local social media content calendar.•    Maintain messaging and guidelines for externally facing materials.•    Monitor local media news and advise leadership on emerging issues.•    Represent the project at industry conferences, community, and academic events, including giving presentations.Government Relations & Permitting Support•    Support the Permitting Lead on external relations aspects related to permitting processes.•    Identify and build relationships with relevant government representatives at the local, state, and federal levels.•    Represent the project as necessary with regulators and government officials.QualificationsPreferred•    Based in Southwestern Colorado, with relevant existing networks within the region.•    Prior experience in the mining, energy, or other regulated, land-based industries, including familiarity with permitting.•    A track record of building long-term relationships across diverse stakeholders and Tribal Nations.•    Experience managing events.Required•    Exceptionally strong communication skills•    Passionate about the La Plata Mountains, environmental & cultural stewardship, and learning about mineral exploration.•    Ability and willingness to live in or near Durango, Colorado.•    5+ years of experience in community relations, government affairs, communications, or a related field.•    Ability to build trust and maintain relationships using a high level of emotional intelligence through self-awareness and active listening skills, particularly across cultural contexts.•    Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate technical concepts into easy-to-understand language.•    Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive topics.
