Technical Writer (Aerospace/Defense)
Yoh has an exciting, contract opportunity for multiple Technical Writers to join our Aerospace & Defense client in Frisco, TX. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who live within a commutable distance to the site and thrive in a hands-on manufacturing environment. The Technical Writer will spend significant time on the production floor partnering with engineering and manufacturing teams to capture processes and translate them into structured, user-friendly documentation. Title: Technical Writer Location: Frisco, TX Compensation: $35-$40/hour, flexible depending on experience level Type: Contract (potential to extend or convert based on performance and business needs) Industry: Aerospace / Defense Eligibility: Must be a U.S. Person (ITAR environment) Responsibilities:Develop and formalize detailed work instructions and operational procedures for a high-priority product line, with potential to expand support to additional programsCreate documentation from the ground up while also refining and standardizing existing materialsCapture mechanical assembly, electrical integration, and flight system processes directly from subject matter expertsPartner closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure technical accuracy and completenessTranslate complex build and integration workflows into structured, easy-to-follow documentationConduct documentation gap analyses and implement improvements to drive clarity and consistencyMaintain document control, version tracking, and structured updates within internal systemsOrganize and manage content within collaboration and documentation platforms (e.g., Confluence, MES environments)Support process improvement initiatives by aligning documentation with evolving operational best practicesQualifications & Requirements:3+ years of experience in technical writing, process documentation, or related roleDemonstrated experience creating work instructions and standard operating procedures in a manufacturing or engineering settingStrong ability to distill complex mechanical and electrical processes into clear, concise documentationExperience working cross-functionally with engineers, technicians, and production teamsHigh attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies and gaps in technical contentStrong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple documentation priorities in a fast-paced environmentProficiency with documentation management or collaboration tools (e.g., Confluence or similar platforms)Preferred Experience:Background in aerospace, aviation, automotive, or other regulated manufacturing environmentsFamiliarity with quality standards such as AS9100 or ISO frameworksExperience supporting documentation within production execution or manufacturing systemsExposure to change management and document control processesPhysical Demands:Ability to work onsite in a production and manufacturing environment for extended periodsFrequent walking between engineering offices and the production floorStanding for prolonged periods while observing and documenting processesAbility to comply with all facility safety requirements, including use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) Estimated Min Rate: $24.50 Estimated Max Rate: $35.00What’s In It for You?We welcome you to be a part of the largest and legendary global staffing companies to meet your career aspirations.
