Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with faculty, staff, students, hospital personnel and community agencies to ensure course and program effectiveness.\n\nPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION\nAs course team faculty member:\n\nCollaborates with the course team and course coordinator(s) to develop and coordinate a nursing course or component of the curriculum.\n\nParticipates in course team meetings.\n\nSupervises and participates in teaching, assumes responsibility for student assignments, analyzes data essential to patient care.\n\nEvaluates the course offering and student’s progression.\n\nSelects appropriate learning experiences (e.g., simulation, interactive learning activities, use of multimedia).\n\nSupervises and evaluates student learning (class, clinical, skills, simulation).\n\nCompletes weekly student feedback and submits all student evaluations to the Course Coordinator within one week at the conclusion of each clinical rotation.\n\nAdheres to online substantive weekly feedback guidelines and grading.\n\nDemonstrates organizational ability.\n\nAssumes a professional role as a nurse leader.\n\nTakes responsibility for orientation to any new course materials, content and any new clinical units in a timely fashion.\n\nActs independently, confers with Course Coordinator(s) regarding policy decisions/unusual circumstances.\n\nUtilizes group dynamics to effect change and promote group productivity.\n\nAnalyzes situations utilizing problem‑solving methods.\n\nParticipates in continuing education related to professional responsibilities.\n\nDemonstrates knowledge of recent trends in nursing, education, community, and legislation.\n\nServes as a role model for the nursing profession.\n\nEstablishes effective communication channels.\n\nInteracts collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, hospital personnel and community agencies.\n\nProvides relevant or pertinent resources (e.g., EAP, domestic violence, campus safety) to assist with non‑academic concerns.\n\nEngages in scholarly activities that promote excellence in faculty practice (See Faculty Scholarship Policy).\n\nCollaborates with the faculty, students, multidisciplinary healthcare team, and members of the community to promote an understanding of the nursing profession.\n\nEngages in evidence‑based clinical and academic practices (i.e., instructional strategies for all methods of learning, standards of clinical practice, assessment and evaluation methods, principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion).\n\nDevelops active learning strategies to engage the learner in dynamic interactive processes.\n\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S)\n\nAdjunct instructors must possess current licensure and registration in New York State as a Registered Professional Nurse, and a master’s degree in nursing.\n\nTwo years of recent clinical nursing experience relevant to the instructional area and/or evidence of leadership behaviors is required.\n\nMust have reliable transportation for class, simulation, skills, and clinical.\n\nTeaching experience preferred.\n\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\n\nShould be able to push/pull, lift/move 35 lb., be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand‑eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photocopiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance.
