Middle School/Junior High Academic Dean of Students
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree in School Counseling, Educational Leadership, or related field
Valid Texas school counselor certificate
Valid Texas teaching certificate
T-TESS Certification Preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students, parents, and district staff
Knowledge of the state testing program and accountability system
Ability to use student test data systems
Facilitate and requires assessment training; handling of testing materials; scheduling of testing locations
Provide guidance and counseling to students
Participate in planning, implementing and evaluating a comprehensice developments guidance program to serve all students
Coordinate people and resources in the school, home and community
Experience with MTSS, RTI, and academic intervention systems preferred
Assist with development and management of campus master schedule.
Oversee student course selections and academic placement.
Ensure accurate documentation for PEIMS reporting related to counseling or academic services.
Coordinate academic recognition programs and student celebrations.
Partner with community organizations to support student needs.
Facilitate parent meetings related to academic progress and intervention plans.
Knowledge of MTSS/RTI frameworks
Effective crisis management and conflict resolution skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards
Leadership skills to support campus-wide improvement initiatives
