Contract – Location: Austin – Salary: Negotiable – Employment: Full-time – Travel: 25% of the time Description The Distribution Planning Project Manager will utilize extensive knowledge in electrical distribution planning and the application of grid technologies to improve grid performance and prepare the grid for future challenges represented by distributed generation and electrification. The role supports studies and consulting services for electricity distribution utilities, helping them make decisions backed by business and engineering analysis, including load flow, transfer capability, system impact studies, generation interconnection, reliability planning, DER, electrification impact consulting, and hosting capacity studies. The manager works with investor‐owned, municipal, and cooperative utilities and engages directly with clients to identify new work, prepare proposals, establish study objectives, formulate project approaches, and oversee a team of engineers to deliver actionable deliverables. Responsibilities Business development: develop new and manage existing client relationships, lead proposal development, planning, budgeting, scheduling, contract preparation, and negotiations. Project execution: lead all aspects of project execution including scope, schedule, budget, quality control, risk communication, and personnel organization. Leadership: mentor and train staff, act as an industry leader in power delivery planning, and support company initiatives. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in engineering or a related ABET‐accredited program; advanced degree (MBA or Engineering Management) is a plus. Minimum 5 years of related experience with renewable generation (wind and/or solar) and at least 3 years managing engineering projects. Deep knowledge of the electric utility industry, renewable generation facility development, design, and construction. Experience with wind/solar projects and energy storage is an advantage. Proven ability to lead, educate, and train engineers and analysts on renewable generation studies. Strong project management, business, and financial calculation skills. Effective communication and problem‐solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Willingness to travel. Professional registration preferred.
