As the Safety Specialist, you will support the EHS Manager in the execution and administration of environmental, health, and safety programs within the facility.\n\nIn this role, you will serve as a visible presence on the production floor, helping drive safe behaviors, ensuring compliance with established procedures, supporting training initiatives, and assisting with incident prevention efforts. The Safety Specialist plays a key role in reinforcing a strong safety culture through proactive hazard identification, employee engagement, and timely follow-through on corrective actions.\n\nWhat you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)\nWhile each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:\n\nCompliance with Health & Safety Regulations\n\nAssist in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local environmental health and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)\n\nSupport implementation and administration of site-specific EHS policies and procedures\n\nMaintain safety records, documentation, permits, and compliance files\n\nAssist in managing SDS database and chemical inventory\n\nSupport waste management processes, including proper handling and storage of solid, universal, and hazardous waste\n\n2. Floor Presence, Inspections & Risk Identification\n\nConduct routine safety inspections and audits of production areas\n\nIdentify unsafe conditions and behaviors and communicate findings to supervisors\n\nTrack corrective actions to ensure timely closure\n\nAssist in Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments\n\nParticipate in 5S and continuous improvement events from a safety perspective\n\n3. Incident Investigation & Reporting\n\nAssist with investigation of workplace injuries, near misses, and property damage incidents\n\nGather facts, conduct interviews, and document findings\n\nSupport root cause analysis efforts (5Y, 8D, etc.)\n\nMaintain OSHA logs and injury/illness records under direction of the EHS Manager\n\nTrack action items resulting from investigations and audits\n\n4. Training & Employee Engagement\n\nConduct new hire safety orientation\n\nDeliver and coordinate required safety training (PPE, Lockout/Tagout, forklift awareness, hazard communication, emergency response, etc.)\n\nSupport supervisors with safety talks and employee coaching\n\nParticipate in safety committee meetings and engagement initiatives\n\nPromote awareness campaigns and safety communications across the facility\n\nContinues Improvement\n\nAssist in tracking EHS metrics and preparing monthly reports\n\nMaintain audit trackers and action item logs\n\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing injuries and environmental impact\n\nProvide recommendations to improve safety processes and programs\n\nWhat we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)\nWe each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:\n\nRequired Experience\n\n2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing safety or EHS role\n\nWorking knowledge of OSHA standards and general safety compliance requirements\n\nPreferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\n\nExperience supporting Lockout/Tagout programs and machine guarding\n\nExperience assisting with forklift training and safety audits\n\nFamiliarity with environmental compliance processes\n\nBasic understanding of continuous improvement methodologies\n\nStrong organizational and documentation skills\n\nAbility to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally\n\nStrong communication skills with the ability to influence safe behaviors on the production floor\n\nAnalytical skills with ability to support data tracking and reporting\n\nProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)\n\nEducation & Certifications\n\nAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred\n\nOSHA 30 certification preferred\n\nFirst Aid/CPR certification preferred\n\nTravel & Working Environment\n\nOnsite; plant and office environment\n\nRegular presence on the production floor\n\nMay be exposed to noise, varying temperatures, and manufacturing equipment\n\nAbility to walk and stand for extended periods\n\nHow we live our culture\nOur culture is at the center of what we do and, more importantly, who we are.
