Position SummaryThe Construction Journeyman is a highly skilled trades professional responsible for performing advanced construction, installation, and repair work across multiple disciplines, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general building trades.This role operates at a master craftsman level and serves in a lead capacity, providing direction, oversight, and mentorship to team members while ensuring all work meets company standards, safety regulations, and applicable building codes.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & OversightServe in a lead role to all employees.Provide guidance, training, and quality control oversight.Coordinate daily tasks to ensure efficient workflow and project progress.Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.Project Layout & PlanningInterpret blueprints, specifications, and supervisor instructions.Prepare and verify project layouts.Accurately measure and estimate dimensions, materials, and proportions.Select and confirm appropriate materials for each project phase.Carpentry & Structural WorkPerform demolition, framing, and structural repairs.Build and install stairs, mantels, cabinetry, molding, siding, windows, and doors.Construct forms for concrete work and tunnel or sewer projects.Create structures for concrete pouring and bracing systems.Repair roofing systems and structural subcomponents.Work with prefabricated building components.Plumbing (Rough & Finish)Remove and install plumbing fixtures, supply lines, and drain systems.Perform rough-in and finish plumbing work.Utilize plumbing tools including soldering torches, pipe benders, and fitting equipment.Electrical (Rough & Finish)Remove and install electrical wiring, fixtures, and systems.Perform rough-in and finish electrical work.Utilize electrical installation tools such as heavy-duty drills, fish tapes, and testers.General Construction DutiesWork with materials including wood, steel, aluminum, concrete, drywall, plastic, fiberglass, ducting, conduit, and prefabricated components.Join materials using nails, screws, staples, and adhesives.Erect scaffolding and safely operate on ladders, stilts, and elevated structures.Use levels, framing squares, plumb bobs, and surveying equipment to ensure precision.Move and install machinery as needed.QualificationsAdvanced knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and electrical systems.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.Strong understanding of building codes and safety standards.Proven leadership capability in a construction environment.Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work at heights.
