This position provides Linux systems engineering, administration, and DevSecOps support for secure development, test, and operational environments supporting NSWCDD laser, electro-optical (EO), and mission system programs. Candidate will need to be onsite at Naval Support Facility Dahlgren/Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division or Contractor Site 3-4 days per week. Ideal candidate will have 6-8 years of experience in a similar role.\n\nClearance:\n\nAn ACTIVE Secret Clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.\n\nRequirements:\n6+ years of experience with Linux system administration, including performance tuning, networking, and service management\nStrong scripting and development skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages.\nHands‑on experience with configuration management and infrastructure automation\nDeep understanding of secure system configuration and federal compliance frameworks\nDemonstrated experience setting up and maintaining small computer lab environments (hardware setup, OS imaging, network configuration, patching, and troubleshooting)\nProficiency with virtualization and containerization technologies (VMware, KVM, Docker, Podman)\nResponsibilities:\nDesign, develop, and optimize Linux‑based applications, tools, and system components\nLead administration and hardening of Linux systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) across production, development, and secure environments\nArchitect and implement automation solutions using Ansible, Terraform, Bash, Python, or similar tools\nDiagnose and resolve complex system, network, and application issues, providing Tier 3 expertise\nCollaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with federal security standards (STIGs, NIST, FISMA)\nSupport and enhance CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows\nManage small computer lab environments, including workstation provisioning, OS imaging, patching, network configuration, and hardware lifecycle management\nProduce clear documentation for system configurations, processes, and operational procedures\nPreferred Skills and Experience:\nExperience with infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, CloudFormation)\nFamiliarity with cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government)\nExperience with CI/CD platforms (GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)\nCompensation:\n\nCompensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.\n\nThe projected annual compensation range for this position is $106,000 - $147,000 (USD).
