Internal Audit evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of all worldwide internal control processes on a rotating basis considering significance and risk on behalf of BD Management and its Board of Directors.The Senior Manager, Internal Audit is responsible for leading and executing risk-based internal audit engagements, evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls, and supporting the organization's governance, risk management, and compliance objectives. This role partners closely with senior leadership to provide independent, objective assurance and advisory services that add value and improve operations.In addition, ensuring that Internal Audit operates with excellence, processes remain aligned with Global Internal Audit Standards, monitoring department metrics and ensuring executive presentations are clear, concise, and aligned with departmental standards.Key ResponsibilitiesAudit Execution & LeadershipLead end-to-end internal audit engagements, including planning, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up.Develop risk-based audit programs aligned with enterprise risk priorities.Supervise, coach, and review the work of audit team members to ensure quality and adherence to IIA standards.Evaluate design and operating effectiveness of internal controls across financial, operational, and compliance areas.Risk Management & AdvisoryIdentify emerging risks and provide insights to management and the Audit Committee.Contribute to the development of the annual audit plan through participation in the bi-annual risk assessment.Provide advisory support on remediation activities, strategic initiatives, system implementations, and process improvements.Stakeholder EngagementBuild strong relationships with business leaders, finance, IT, Global Business Services (GBS) and second line compliance teams.Present audit findings, risks, and management action plans to senior management in a clear, concise manner.Prepare executive-ready audit reports and stakeholder update materials.Continuous Improvement & AnalyticsLeverage data analytics and digital AI tools to enhance audit efficiency and coverage.Identify opportunities to automate testing and improve audit methodologies.Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices.Education & CertificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or FinanceCPA, CIA, or equivalent certification requiredExperience8–10 years of experience in internal audit, public accounting, or related field.Experience within a global, publicly traded company preferred.Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, SOX, COSO framework, and internal control concepts.Experience auditing operational, financial, and IT processesExperience with ERP systems such as SAP & JDE.Experience with and proactively pursuing opportunities to implement technology and AI capabilities into the process.Skills & CompetenciesStrong leadership and team management skillsExcellent analytical and problem-solving abilitiesEffective communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)Ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholdersHigh level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detailProficiency with audit tools (e.g., AuditBoard/Optro) and data analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI)Strong business acumen with a focus on value-added auditingProactive mindset with a continuous improvement approachEffective prioritization and management of multiple projects in a dynamic environmentAbility to travel up to 25% globally.At BD, we prioritize on-site collaboration because we believe it fosters creativity, innovation, and effective problem-solving, which are essential in the fast-paced healthcare industry.
