At Progress Rail, the team is not just building the future of rail—they are making history every day.\nKey Job Elements\nInspects/evaluates environment, equipment and processes to ensure compliance with federal/state/local safety/environment regulations;\nConducts New Hire Orientation; delivers safety and health training programs and maintains and distributes PPE to employees when applicable; engages employees to make sure they are working safely; stops/corrects any unsafe behavior or conditions found;\nEnters data into Safety systems; conducts audits to identify unsafe conditions, non-compliance and hazardous conditions; tracks, logs and follows up on safety observations;\nConducts incident accident reporting and investigations and/or assists with the development of root cause corrections in those facilities with an EHS Manager;\nHandles regulatory inspections/visits, such as KYOSHA and/or HYDEP; completes reports for submission to EPA, OSHA or other regulatory agencies as required;\nPerforms monitoring and testing for permit requirements;\nAssists in the sampling of different media, collecting water level data, storm water sampling during precipitation events; collects, labels, packages and ships samples to off-site lab;\nHandles facility alarm and sprinkler systems and other emergency response systems as applicable;\nAssists with preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements for assigned programs;\nAdministers first aid for minor injuries as needed and refers more serious injuries for medical care and informs company of any injuries that occur at the facility;\nMaintains data in EHS management systems PRESS;\nCollaborates with Facility Management as needed and completes other job-related duties as assigned by EHS Manager, Plant Manager, HR Manager, and Regional EHS Manager, as applicable;\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nEducation / Training\nBS Degree in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety or related field or equivalent experience with designated responsibilities in the safety/environmental field;\nOSHA training of 30 hours or more preferred.\n\nQualifications and Experience\n3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment;\nSolid understanding of environmental practices and Federal/State safety rules and regulations and regulatory requirements;\nPossess or able to obtain certification in General Industry 30-hour class;\nFirst Aid/CPR/AED Certification;\nValid driver’s license;\nDemonstrated ability to work effectively at all levels, including company management, staff, contractors, vendors, and site personnel;\nAbility to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with a wide variety of audiences;\nExperience with Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);\nAbility to adapt to frequent changes in workload and priority as circumstances dictate;\nMust be able to meet requirements of pre-employment, post-offer drug test and fitness for duty medical review and exam;\nMust be able to pass a background check which reviews any and all felonies and misdemeanors in the past 7 years;\nExperience with SAFE START or similar safety program, preferred.\n\nBenefits\nCompensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience.
