Senior Trader
Position OverviewNeuberger is seeking an experienced Senior Trader to join its Trading team in New York, with dedicated coverage of European equity markets. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Trading, this individual will be responsible for executing equity trades across European markets with a focus on best execution, transaction cost management, and strong broker relationships. The Senior Trader will serve as a key partner to portfolio managers and will play an active role in shaping trading strategies for the European equity coverage universe. This role operates on European market hours from our New York office.Key ResponsibilitiesTrade Execution & CoverageExecute equity orders across European developed markets, ensuring best execution on behalf of portfoliosManage complex orders including large, illiquid, and time-sensitive positions with sound judgment and precisionMonitor intraday market conditions, news flow, and liquidity dynamics to inform execution strategyOversee the full trade lifecycle, from order receipt through settlement, in coordination with operationsBroker & Market Participant RelationsMaintain and develop relationships with sell-side brokers, electronic trading venues, and market makers across European marketsEvaluate broker performance and contribute to broker review and commission management processesStay current on European market microstructure, venue landscape, and evolving best execution frameworks (including MiFID II/MiFIR requirements)Portfolio Manager PartnershipCollaborate closely with portfolio managers to understand portfolio objectives and translate investment decisions into effective execution strategiesProvide real-time color on market conditions, liquidity, and trading dynamics relevant to European equity portfoliosSupport portfolio rebalancing, index events, and corporate action-related trading activityRisk, Compliance & AnalyticsExecute all trading activity in adherence to internal risk parameters, compliance policies, and applicable regulatory requirementsConduct and review Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA) to monitor and continuously improve execution qualityIdentify and escalate risk issues appropriately to the Head of TradingTechnology & Process ImprovementUtilize and optimize Order Management System (OMS) and execution management tools (e.g., Charles River, FlexTrade)Contribute to the development of trading workflows, tools, and infrastructure enhancementsSupport the evaluation and onboarding of new trading technologies and platformsQualificationsRequiredMinimum 10 years of buy-side or sell-side equity trading experience, with direct exposure to European equity marketsStrong understanding of European market microstructure, trading venues, and regulatory environment (MiFID II/MiFIR)Proficiency with OMS/EMS platforms and electronic trading toolsBachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative disciplineActive FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 licensesAbility and willingness to work European market hours from the New York officePreferredCFA charterholder or active candidacyPrior experience in a New York-based role with European market hours coverageFamiliarity with transaction cost analysis (TCA) tools and methodologiesProgramming skills (Python, SQL, or VBA) a plusCompetenciesStrong analytical mindset with the ability to make sound, time-pressured decisionsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to engage effectively with portfolio managers, brokers, and internal stakeholdersHigh attention to detail and rigorous approach to risk managementCollaborative team player with a proactive, solutions-oriented attitudeDemonstrated integrity and accountability in a fast-paced, high-stakes environmentCompensation DetailsThe salary range for this role is $175,000-$215,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in the job posting location. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, business sector, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, market benchmarking data, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus, which, along with base salary and retirement contributions, is part of our total comprehensive package.
