Early Childhood Licensed Teacher
JOB SUMMARY:Under the supervision of the Early Childhood Coordinator, the Early Childhood Teacher creates and maintains a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for children ages three to five. The teacher provides developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with early learning standards and supports the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child. This role includes responsibilities within both Preschool and Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) programs and actively includes parents as partners in program implementation to support student learning and family engagement.WORK SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICSSkills required to perform the essential functions of the job:Developmentally Appropriate Practice: Plans and delivers instruction aligned to ECIPs, supporting all developmental domains (social-emotional, language, cognitive, physical, and approaches to learning)Assessment and Instructional Responsiveness: Uses observation and assessment to monitor student progress, adjust instruction, and document learning outcomesSocial-Emotional Support: Creates a nurturing environment that promotes positive relationships, self-regulation, and independenceLanguage and Literacy Development: Integrates language-rich interactions and early literacy experiences throughout daily instructionPlay-Based Instruction: Designs engaging, hands-on learning experiences that promote exploration and critical thinkingCollaboration and Communication: Collaborates with ECSE staff and colleagues; communicates student progress and participates in problem-solving and instructional planningFamily Engagement: Builds partnerships with families and actively includes parents in program implementation (ECFE-aligned)Learning Environment and Materials: Maintains an organized, developmentally appropriate classroom and prepares instructional materials (e.g.,manipulatives,, learning tools) to support instructionInstructional Support and Implementation: Guides students through learning activities, reinforces targeted skills, monitors progress, and supports implementation of lesson plansDocumentation and Organization: Maintains accurate student records, including filing, portfolios, and documentation for conferences and program requirementsStudent Supervision and Transitions: Ensures student safety and appropriate behavior across all settings, including hallways, restrooms, arrival, dismissal, and transportation routinesOperational Support: Completes classroom support tasks such as copying, organizing materials, and maintaining student filesHealth and Safety Awareness: Ensures a safe and supportive environment for all studentsProfessionalism: Engages in ongoing professional development and performs other duties as assigned by the teacher and/or Early Childhood Coordinator.EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTSMinnesota Teaching License in Early Childhood Education (Birth - Grade 3) or related fieldBachelor's degree and completion of a state-approved teacher preparation program requiredCandidates eligible under Minnesota tiered licensure system may be consideredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSPhysical requirements associated with the position can be best summarized as follows: Light work, exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
