Accountable for translating later stage transformative technology opportunities into measurable R&D and business value, including quantified value potential, risk, and RoI, and for ensuring resources are focused on the highest-value opportunities.Secure cross-functional sponsorship and capacity from R&D homes, aligning accountabilities and resource commitments to deliver evaluations and pilots at speed.Prepare, structure, and drive portfolio level decision making by enabling evidence-based prioritization, scenario planning, and explicit trade off discussions, in close collaboration with the S&E leaders network and relevant R&D and enterprise leadership & governance bodies. Ensure resourcing is fair, and decisions are well-documentedAs an operational work unit and VACC leaderBuild and lead high-performing cross-functional work teams that deliver measurable outcomes, work in rapid 90-day learning cycle to and operate in an environment of trust, empowerment, and accountability. Stop work teams as priorities change; ensure clear nomination of team representatives to maintain connections.Continually demonstrate and embrace VACC leadership attributes and promote DSO principles to build trust, create a \"can do\" mindset and facilitate collaborative problem-solving and continuous-learning.Forecast dynamic resource needs (financials, skills) to enable talent flow and resource prioritization across R&D in partnership with the IIP and S&E leaders network, while securing the resources and expertise needed for top priorities.Redirect teams & resources in line with evolving priorities while ensuring continuity for paused activities.Own and ensure accurate reporting of unit outcomes and impact metrics.Partner closely with IIP Hub leads to optimally deploy and develop talent into work teams based on individual team members' capabilities, capacities, and development goals.Champions a workplace where ethics, human rights, diversity & inclusion, compliance, safety and security are first and foremostWHO YOU ARE:Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:Required Qualifications:PhD degree with 8+ years of advanced science leadership experience, MS degree with 10 years of advanced science leadership experience; 8+ years of experience including technology and/or business strategy development and implementation; and driving innovation;Demonstrated success developing and enacting complex strategies and initiatives to significantly drive R&D impact and value creation incl strategic use of IPExcellent strategic, long-term visionary and innovative mindsetDemonstrate and embrace VACC leadership attributes, strategically fostering a collaborative culture within the unit.Strong experience in transversal, non-hierarchical leadership, leadership by influence, conflict managementStrong cross-cultural sensitivity and ability to connect with a broad diversity of external scientific and financial stakeholdersGood understanding of scientific and economic macrotrendsComfortable in managing ambiguity and challenging the status quoThis posting will be available for application until at least May 11, 2026.Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $ 191280- 286920.
