We are a dynamic team with contracts focused in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.Who are we looking for? We are looking for a motivated, diligent and collaborative intern to manage data, develop apps, and manage online content for our Massachusetts contracts. This is a chance for an intern to apply knowledge and tools to turn data into meaningful insights, with a focus on a real-world case study: the water industry.Summary of Tasks:Digitizing infrastructure data for our spatial database.'s purpose for this internship is to maximize the benefit of utility-wide GIS. The data being shared must reliably meet operational and daily system maintenance needs. Asset data in GIS must be accurate \"positionally\" (in the right place), descriptively (describes the asset appropriately), and temporally (up-to-date). Duties may include:Updating system and operational data by data miningWrangling data for system-wide geospatial analysis and/or modelingCommanding Desktop GIS tasks, such as creating maps and map apps, querying data, editing dataGeodatabase administration and maintenanceCreating geometric networks and feature layers from various operational and/or legacy data sourcesCompiling and cleaning data from various other topological datasets and sources (ie. streets, topography, hydrology)Conducting accurate network analysis and compelling visualizationsWeb administration, authoring and app development to help clients or field crews visualize phenomena inherent in systems or summarize statistics for systemsSkills and Requirements:Background in earth science, data science, geology, geography, planning, engineering, and/or mathematicsInterest in the water industryUnderstanding of geodatabase, web and server administration, ie. knowledge of versioning, user and role managementStrong Desktop ArcGIS and/or ArcGIS Pro skillsKnowledge of Python (pandas, rasterio, sklearn, etc) or other scripting languagesA design aesthetic and strong dashboarding skills with ArcGIS, Power BI, Tableau, and/or othersExperience with UI/UX concepts and designExperience with spatial analysis, network models, interactive web maps and tools, and data visualizationProficiency with coding / scripting languages to efficiently mine data from various sources, write queries for geospatial datasets, display interactive web apps, and/or automate data entry and data updates, ie. ArcGIS API for PythonEffective time management and (verbal and graphic) communication skillsKeen attention to detail and an analytical approach to problem solvingWorkplan:This is a 6 -month internship after which asset descriptions will be more detailed and up-to-date.
