Job Description and Position Requirements
The dairy nutrition research laboratory of Dr. Alex Hristov is seeking an undergraduate student to fill a part-time research support position.
Responsibilities
Weigh cattle refusal feed, collect feed samples, and assist graduate students in their research trials with other sample collection (fecals, urine, blood, rumen contents, etc.).
Assist with sample processing in the lab (drying samples, grinding using a Wiley Mill, weighing samples, and after training, help run various sample analyses).
General care and cleaning of the lab and research areas.
Provide assistance during sampling that can occur at any hour; responsible for at least one early morning refusal shift per week (5 AM) and up to two weekend days per month.
Qualifications
Undergraduate student; experience with cattle or other livestock preferred but not required.
Detail-oriented, motivated, capable of working independently.
Hours
Flexible (up to 24 hours/week) with specific shift requirements as above.
