Monument's remote workplace model has been a cornerstone of our success for years, allowing us to deliver exceptional results while maintaining a highly engaged and connected workforce. Position Description Monument is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support our Project Managers by ensuring accurate financial tracking, forecasting, invoicing, contract and subconsultant processing, and reporting across multiple active projects. This role requires a strong understanding of project finances, legal contract language, billing structures, and revenue and cost analysis. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker who proactively asks questions, identifies issues early, and takes ownership of financial accuracy. Pay Range: $70,000 - $90,000 Primary Responsibilities Shape and maintain project billing structures that align seamlessly with contract commitments and organizational standards. Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and revenue-to-cost performance to ensure financial accuracy and alignment with project objectives. Build insightful financial projections and deliver forward-looking monthly and quarterly forecasts that guide strategic decision-making. Translate legal contract language into clear financial requirements, applying a strong understanding of legal terminology to protect project and company interests. Draft and finalize prime and subconsultant agreements and manage task orders. Prepare standardized invoice templates and ensure accurate and timely submission of all project invoicing. Craft comprehensive financial reports that equip leadership with the visibility needed to steer projects with confidence. Partner closely with directors and project managers, providing financial insights and highlighting risks, trends, and opportunities across active projects. Contribute to resource planning efforts by analyzing staffing needs, workload distribution, and future resourcing scenarios. Maintain and update financial records within the Microsoft Suite. Qualifications Exceptional Excel proficiency (advanced formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data modeling) is mandatory. Experience with resource planning tools or project-based financial systems. Background in professional services, architecture/engineering, consulting, or other project-driven environments is a plus. Proven experience in project accounting, financial analysis, or a similar role. Strong understanding of project budgets, revenue recognition, cost tracking, and business financials. Ability to interpret and extract financial obligations from legal contracts and technical language. Excellent time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong communication skills and the confidence to ask questions and challenge assumptions. Close attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational discipline. Ability to / Possession of: Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Adapt quickly and learn new tasks. A basic understanding of accounting principles is preferred. Use discretion with confidential materials and information. Education and Experience: Preferred 4-year degree, 2-5 years of experience in Project Accounting or finance, and an expert in Excel skills. Why Monument? At Monument, we believe happy employees make happy clients.
