DSP (Direct Support Professional)
DSP
We are looking for a DSP to become a part of our agency’s compassionate care-giving team. The support professional will provide direct supervision and on-going monitoring of clients according to Individual Support Plan (ISP). The caregiver will interact directly with patients in their homes providing comfort, companionship and assisting with daily living needs. We are searching for a dedicated, compassionate and energetic individual to help promote independence and quality of life of our patients. We are willing to train appropriate candidates.
Responsibilities include
Assess, monitor, and supervise clients to ensure their health, safety, and welfare and execute detailed Individual Support Plan (ISP)
Participates in the consumer’s Individual Service Plan meetings if and when requested By Program Manager
Performs tasks and duties according to the ISP, prioritizes and organizes tasks to achieve goals outlined on the ISP.
Assist with daily living activities including helping with personal hygiene.
Assist clients with home making duties under the direction of a care plan personalized to the client.
Record daily information in the patient’s chart.
Assist the nurses and other staff as needed.
Adhere to professional standards, follow policies and procedures and abide by federal, state and local requirements, as well as Joint Commission standards.
Qualifications/skills
High School Diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license with clean record
Reliable and functional automobile with the ability to transport clients
Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certificate within 30-days
Submit and pass BCI criminal background check
Basic computer skills
Ability to work as part of a team and to handle multiple tasks safely and effectively
Good communication skills, including the ability to communicate sensitive information with empathy (“bedside manner”).
