ResponsibilitiesThe Security and Privacy team of TikTok USDS Joint Venture is missioned to ensure that TikTok is the most trusted social and entertainment platform, through protecting the safety and security of the business, our people, and users, building public trust, and complying with government requirements.About The RoleWe are looking for motivated Software Engineer Interns to join our automation initiatives. In this role, you won’t just be writing scripts; you will be building the next generation of AI-powered agents designed to streamline complex security and infrastructure operations.Whether it’s optimizing SIEM reliability, automating cloud security remediations, or streamlining GRC evidence gathering, your mission is to transform manual, fragmented workflows into high-velocity, automated pipelines. You will bridge the gap between raw operational data and actionable engineering intelligence.Potential Project TracksWhile all interns will focus on AI-driven automation, you will be matched with a specific domain such as: Security Ops: Automating SIEM triage, firewall rule reviews, or threat alert summaries. Cloud & Infrastructure: Accelerating CSPM remediations, IAM reviews, or endpoint upgrade planning. Governance & Compliance: Building evidence-gathering assistants and automated reporting tools for GRC workflows. Data Platforms: Automating the onboarding, mapping, and validation of new telemetry sources.Internships at Our Company aims to provide students with hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills and exploring potential career paths. Agent & Workflow Development: Design and implement backend services and LLM-powered agents that gather requirements, extract structured fields, and generate implementation tasks. Data Orchestration: Build pipelines to automate data normalization, enrichment, and retrieval from various sources (Logs, APIs, IAM policies, and Telemetry). Evaluation & Quality Assurance: Create evaluation datasets, unit tests, and "human-in-the-loop" check-points to measure agent accuracy, handle edge cases, and ensure safety. Internal Tooling: Develop lightweight UIs, CLI tools, and dashboards that allow senior engineers to review, validate, and adopt AI-generated recommendations. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Document system architectures, prompt engineering strategies, and tool interfaces to ensure long-term maintainability.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Master in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline Able to commit to working for 12 weeks in 2026. Knowledge of a coding language such as Python, C*, Go, Rust, or similar.Preferred Qualifications Programming: Proficiency in Python working with REST APIs, JSON, and SQL. Domain Interest: A strong interest in one or more of the following: AI/LLMs: Agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and prompt engineering Infrastructure/Security: Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Network Security, SIEM (Splunk), or Endpoint Management. Reliability: Observability, log analysis, and automated troubleshooting.
