Job Description:
The Janitor will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the plant, equipment, pits, parking lots, and related areas or fixtures.
This position will work closely with shift supervisors and the plant manager.
Responsibilities:
· Sweep shop aisles, general plant areas, yard, parking lots and parkways
· Clean and sanitize water fountains and eye wash stations
· Empty steel, chips, brick hoppers and rubbish containers
· Clean manufacturing equipment with steam cleaner
· Clean oil tanks and forging pits
· Maintain outside landscaping
· Spread absorption compounds on oil and grease spills
· Mop puddles as necessary
· Check and clean fire extinguishers in per instructions
· Clean and sanitize break rooms
· Report any unusual circumstances to the supervisor
· Perform other job-related tasks as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
· 1 year of experience doing janitorial or custodial work in a manufacturing environment
· Experience maintaining a clean and orderly facility
· Ability to communicate issues effectively
· Ability to work alone or receive direction as needed
· High School Diploma required
Working Conditions:
This position will be in a manufacturing environment on the production floor in various conditions.
Physical Demands:
· Must be able to exert strength to lift, pull, push or carry objects
· Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms and legs
· Must be able to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body continuously
