Position Highlights Work directly with orthopedic surgeon and multidisciplinary care team Broad orthopedic exposure including: Fracture management Sports injuries Joint disorders Perioperative orthopedic care First-assist opportunities in: Fracture fixation Arthroscopy Joint reconstruction Soft tissue procedures Shared orthopedic call responsibilities High volume of outdoor recreation-related injuries Opportunity to help grow and shape orthopedic program services Clinical Responsibilities & Diagnosis Perform orthopedic histories and musculoskeletal examinations Diagnose and manage: Fractures Sprains Tendon and ligament injuries Arthritis Sports-related injuries Order and interpret imaging and diagnostic studies including: X-rays CT MRI Ultrasound & Surgical Care First-assist in orthopedic surgical procedures Perform office and bedside procedures including: Casting and splinting Fracture reduction Joint aspiration and injection Wound closure Tendon sheath injections Participate in perioperative management including: Post-op rounding Pain management DVT prophylaxis Discharge planning Coordination Manage post-operative follow-up visits Collaborate with: Physical therapy Occupational therapy Athletic trainers Case management Primary care providers Educate patients on: Recovery expectations Rehabilitation Return-to-activity timelines Qualifications Graduate of ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program NCCPA certification Eligible for Utah PA licensure Current BLS certification Orthopedic and perioperative clinical knowledge 1-2 years orthopedic, sports medicine, or emergency medicine experience Orthopedic surgical first assist experience Rural or critical access hospital experience Procedural skills including: Casting Splinting Joint injections Fracture reduction Compensation & Benefits Compensation range: $130,000 - $160,000 annually Comprehensive benefits package including: Medical insurance Mental health coverage for family 403(b) retirement plan Paid time off Continuing education support Collaborative and supportive workplace culture Ideal Candidate Orthopedic-focused PA seeking broad procedural and clinical exposure Team-oriented provider comfortable in rural medicine environment Interest in sports injuries and active patient populations Adaptable clinician who values autonomy and collaboration Position Summary Specialty: Orthopedic Surgery Physician Assistant Setting: Rural critical access hospital Focus: Orthopedic clinic, ED, inpatient, and OR care Compensation: $130,000-$160,000 Environment: High-acuity outdoor recreation community Lifestyle: Exceptional outdoor recreation and work-life balance
