Job Summary
The primary purpose of your job is to assist with the delivery of patient care in accordance with current applicable Federal, State, and Local standards, guidelines, regulations, and established procedures as may be directed by the Administrator, to ensure the highest degree of quality care and safety is maintained.

Essential Functions
Plans appropriately for patient care:
Anticipates needs of patient visits to optimize provider time.
Ensures necessary paperwork is completed and results are received prior to the visit.
Completes patient forms and manages incoming documents.
Faxes and/or scans documents per office protocols.
Performs patient intake functions:
Verifies patients using two patient identifiers.
Monitors provider schedules to ensure timely care.
Obtains necessary vital signs per department SOP.
Records visit intake information accurately.
Reviews preventative health needs and places orders as needed.
Updates medication lists, allergies, and social determinants of health.
Demonstrates proficiency in EHR documentation.
Prioritizes delegated tasks based on patient care needs.
Communicates effectively with patients and family members:
Informs patients of test results and/or relays physician recommendations.
Documents all telephone conversations in real time.
Participates in team-based care and patient education initiatives.
Assists with office procedures:
Prepares supplies and patients for procedures per SOP.
Labels and packages specimens for the lab.
Cleans and sterilizes exam rooms and instruments.
Provides individualized, age‑specific care:
Administers and documents immunizations per provider orders.
Ensures vaccine integrity and compliance with inventory requirements.
Performs related clinical duties such as EKGs, vision exams, and pulse oximetry.
Maintains safety and compliance logs.
Supports overall functioning of the office:
Accepts assignments within scope of practice.
Performs administrative functions: scheduling, message management, and scanning.
Places appointment orders and processes prescription refills per protocol.
Stocks patient rooms and informs Practice Manager of low supplies.
Attends department huddles and communicates relevant information.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent; other certificate/diploma in a related field required.
Licenses and Credentials: Basic Life Support (BLS) – Generic – HR Only required.
Experience: Medical Assistant experience in an ambulatory setting; 0–1 year preferred; minimum of 6 months employment in an ambulatory physician practice within the last 3 years.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Independent decision-making when required.
Ability to deal tactfully with staff, patients, family, visitors, and agencies.
Willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non‑professional personnel.
Legible reading, writing, clear speaking, and English language proficiency.
Within one year of employment (if not completed prior), must complete one of the following: Medical Assistant School/Program; enrollment in RMA, CMA, CCMA, or related clinical program.
