Controller
Anne Arundel County Mental Health Agency has an immediate opening for a Controller - This position works under the supervision of the Executive Director within the Anne Arundel County Mental Health Agency, Inc. (Agency) and is primarily responsible for overseeing the Agency's financial and accounting operations and fiscal compliance. The Controller ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the Humans Services Agreement Manual (HSAM) and CARF requirements, including assuring proper management and reporting of that agency contracts. The Controller is responsible for ensuring full compliance with audit requirements and for maintaining appropriate financial systems and internal controls. In addition, to support overall organizational effectiveness, this position assists with select administrative functions within the office. To aid organizational effectiveness, the Accounting Specialist provides support for some of the office administrative activities. This is an On-Site Full-Time Day Shift position.This position works as a team member to support the financial operations of the Agency. In this capacity, this position records and tracks financial information and accounts, creates spreadsheets and presentations, records, tracks and codes Medicaid accounts payable/receivable activities and maintains financial and contract files related to the Agency from a variety of funding sources, among other pecuniary and administrative tasks. TheController provides support for specialized operational functions within the Agency, which includes financial operations, procurement functions, CARF compliance and contract activities. The Controller may perform some general clerical and office support activities, which could include fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, word processing and filing, among other administrative tasks.Qualifications and Abilities:Bachelor's degree or master's degree in accounting or related field, CPA preferredMinimum of 5 years of progressive experienceAbility to work under pressure with competing prioritiesSuperb organizational skillsExcellent listening and oral communication skillsStrong mathematical skillsStrong grammar and writing skillsKnowledge of grant accounting and associated regulationsStrong communication skillsProfessional and friendly phone, email and in-person personalityProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat, as well as Internet use and research capabilities; database proficiency desiredExperience with financial tracking software desired, such as QuickBooks Pro, Premier, Sage or EnterpriseExcellent attention to detail skillsExcellent time managementAbility to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasksAbility to work with multiple supervisorsAbility to maintain confidentialityExperience with all standard office equipment including printers, copiers, binders, etc.Promotes a positive office environment and maintains a positive attitudeExperience working with a Board of DirectorsSalary Scale - $91,998 – $105,545. Salary is commensurate with education, credentials and experience.
