Our Neuroscience program offers advanced diagnosis and treatment for conditions including back and neck pain, brain and spinal tumors, epilepsy and seizures, neuromuscular disorders, spinal conditions, and movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease. Our neurointerventional specialists also provide life-saving care for patients experiencing aneurysms, strokes, and cerebral hemorrhages.
This role supports comprehensive Neuroscience patient management and contributes to service line initiatives in collaboration with affiliated provider groups.
Responsibilities
Provide evidence-based care across all phases of hospitalization, including pre-, intra-, and post-operative management
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective patient flow across the continuum of care
Perform Neuroscience consultations and clinical duties as delegated by service line leadership
Order, review, and interpret laboratory and imaging studies
Document patient care accurately in the EMR in alignment with coding and compliance standards
Educate patients, families, and caregivers on diagnoses and treatment plans
Support discharge planning, including patient education and medication prescribing in compliance with regulations
Coordinate care with consulting physicians and interdisciplinary teams
Facilitate patient transfers to appropriate internal and external facilities as needed
Assist in surgical procedures when required
Contribute to clinical education and professional development of peers and students
Maintain timely and accurate reporting in accordance with organizational compliance standards
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program (ARC-PA)
Current NCCPA certification required
Active and unrestricted New York State Physician Assistant license
Bachelor's degree required
BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA only)
DEA registration required for providers with prescribing responsibilities
Previous experience in Neuroscience, Surgery, or Critical Care preferred
Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
Proficiency with EMR systems and basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, Outlook)
