Summary\nThe role of an electrical engineer is to apply their education, skill and expertise to fulfill the design and engineering requirements of a project. An Engineer is an employee who possess their Professional Engineer (PE) certification while an Associate has at least an accredited bachelor’s degree but has not obtained their PE certification. An associate may have also passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in progress towards a PE certification.\n\nII. Duties & Responsibilities\nAssociate / Engineer\nGeneral\nPerform engineering tasks individually and with a team of other designers and engineers to produce technical deliverables.\nComprehend design principals within discipline and possess a basic understanding of other MEP discipline principals.\nEffectively delegate work to others.\nCreate, organize and plot construction document deliverables for issuance to the field.\nRead and understand construction documents including site plans, floor plans, sections, details and schedules.\nApply engineering principals for multiple project types and clients from inception to closeout.\nReview submittals and answer questions from the field.\nCompetently communicate with clients verbally and in written form.\nPerform detailed surveys.\nActively participate in company training.\nActively learn and grow technical knowledge and soft skills.\nTechnical\nEngineer the following systems: power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, equipment connections, fire alarm, grounding, emergency generator systems, and life safety systems\nPerform the following calculations: load diversification, fault current and voltage drop.\nUnderstand and apply relevant aspects of building, electrical and energy codes.\nPerform branch circuiting and panel schedule calculations.\nPerform device layouts for power, lighting and fire alarm systems.\nCoordinate scope and connections with other trades.\nPerform lighting calculations and manipulate to obtain a required light level.\nPerform lighting energy compliance calculations and document results.\nEdit master specifications to be job specific.\nPerform and document code research.\nDesign general lighting control schemes including switching, dimming, occupancy sensors, etc. in compliance with energy code requirements.\nCoordinate with local utilities and integrate requirements into design.\nReview deliverables and find errors in layout or calculations.\nPerform basic opinion of cost.\nRead and understand selective coordination studies. .\nIII. Qualifications\nAssociate / Engineer\nEducation\nMinimum of a bachelor of science degree (BS) from an accredited four-year university or equivalent experience required\nExperience\nAny previous consulting engineering or construction field experience preferred.\nCo-op or internships in engineering field preferred.\nComputer Skills\nBasic computing skills and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite\nProficiency in Revit preferred\nCertifications\nEngineer in Training (EIT) preferred\nLEED AP preferred\nIV.
