Patient Service RepresentativeThe Patient Service Representative works at the front desk, checking patients in and out for their appointments, updating insurance and demographic information, and collecting payments.Role and ResponsibilitiesParticipate in Patient Centered Medical Home Care Team collaborationAdhere to all policies and proceduresGreets patients and visitors in a welcoming manner in person and on the phoneMaintain a neat and orderly reception area that is appropriately stocked with supplies at all times.Check-in patientsVerify patient insurance prior to appointment to ensure coverageAssists patients with insurance questions and registration forms.Update patient demographics and other required forms, as neededCommunicate with patients to setup and schedule optimal appointment timesCollect and input data into the electronic health recordRefer to Patient Services, Patient Accounts, and/or Eligibility Assistance Coordinators, as neededTask refill requests, patient questions, etc. to the appropriate person, as needed.Check-out patientsComplete patient rescheduling as assignedReview encounter and collect additional fees if necessaryPrint patient plan and ensure there are no further questionsReconcile encounters to ensure all patient fee tickets have been collectedBalance daily collectionsCommunicate with appropriate staff for emergency cases (i.e. chest pain, laceration, etc.)Communicate effectively with the COO patient issues, training needs, insurance discrepancies, and scheduling conflictsCommunicate with the appropriate designated individuals to ensure that patients are helped and daily tasks are accomplishedContact transportation services for patients, as neededComplete PHI, log as neededScan information into the computer system, as neededRegular and predictable attendanceComplete five Peer Review audits quarterlyAbility to cooperate and work well with othersAttend monthly staff meetingsPerforms other duties as assigned or requestedQualifications and Education RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalentAt least one year experience of office administration experience preferredPreferred SkillsAbility to walk and alternate between sitting or standing for long periodsAbility to bend, squat, reach, pushing and pullingAbility to lift or carry up to 25 poundsRepeating motions that may include wrist, hands and/or fingersKeyboardingTalkingHearingSeeingDrivingCommunicating with others to exchange informationBenefitsPaid Time OffPaid Holidays401K with MatchHealth InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsuranceMuch MoreThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
