Fleet Safety & Compliance Manager

The Fleet Safety and Compliance Manager at NOW Courier is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all safety, compliance, and risk management programs across the organization. This role ensures full compliance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role promotes a culture of safety across the organization, reduces risk, and ensures the safe operation of fleet vehicles, drivers, and facilities.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:Regulatory Compliance & OversightEnsure compliance with FMCSA regulations, including driver qualification files, Hours of Service (HOS), and vehicle maintenance standardsMaintain company compliance scores under CSA and proactively address deficienciesOversee audit readiness for DOT reviews, safety audits, and inspectionsManage driver drug and alcohol testing programs in accordance with 49 CFR Part 40Safety Program ManagementDesign, implement, and continuously improve company safety policies, procedures, and SOPsDevelop and enforce company-wide safety standardsLead safety training programs, including new hire orientation, defensive driving, and ongoing safety educationMonitor key safety KPIsDriver Safety & TrainingOversee driver onboarding and ongoing safety training programsOversee driver safety performance, including ride-alongs, scorecards, and qualification standardsLead coaching and corrective action programsOversee ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, and compliance softwareAnalyze safety data for improvementsMaintenance & Equipment SafetyEnsure all equipment meets DOT safety standardsOversee preventive maintenance (PM) compliance and inspection programsEnsure timely resolution of DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report) defectsMonitor out-of-service (OOS) trends and implement corrective actionsSupport spec'ing of equipment with a focus on safety and complianceRisk Management & ClaimsManage accident investigations and reportingWork with insurance carriers and legal teamsLead accident prevention initiatives and root cause analysis programsIdentify trends and reduce exposureLeadership & CollaborationPromote a strong safety culture across all levels of the organizationServe as a safety subject matter expert for leadership and field operationsLead safety committees and cross-functional initiativesReport safety metrics to leadershipRequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty according to the requirements of NOW Courier. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) in Occupational Safety, Safety Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation Management, Business Administration, or a related field; and 7 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Director Safety (CDS) certification is desired.
