Loader/Forklift Operator (2+ years experience required)

Markman Peat Corp. is a manufacturer and wholesale distributor of soils, premium soils, decorative rock and mulch to the Lawn and Garden Industry. GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Operates loaders equipped with front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop which is used to transport aggregate or other materials, feed hoppers or chutes, and/or stockpile aggregates. Essential duties and responsibilities Operate the Loader and other heavy equipment in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment Maintain a clean & safe environment Identify and report damage or safety concerns to managers and supervisors Other duties as may be assigned Ability to perform duties independently or in teams, as required Operate the equipment over rocky or uneven land safely. Drive smoothly under harsh weather conditions Proficient in dirt work/filling and back dragging yard Qualification requirements High School diploma or equivalent Must be 18 years of age or older Proven experience as Loader Operator with 2 or more years of experience High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; understand and promote a safe work environment Follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner Physical demands and REQUIREMENTS Regularly sitting on a powered industrial truck Able to work 4 - 10-hour days with occasional overtime Ability to be flexible in work performed and scheduled Occasionally lift to 50 pounds and be able to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn and pivot for short periods of time Having good eye-hand-foot coordination Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season To read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instruction Note: This job description is a summary of the job duties and requirements that are essential to the evaluation of the job.
