This role owns cost, schedule, and technical coordination across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers. In a small-business environment, the Program Manager is hands-on, highly cross-functional, and directly engaged in both strategic planning and day-to-day execution.\r\nKey Responsibilities\r\nOwn full program lifecycle for large precision optics projects.\r\nServe as primary customer point of contact for program execution, milestones, and deliverables.\r\nDevelop and manage program schedules, budgets, and risk registers.\r\nCoordinate cross-functional teams including opto-mechanical engineering, manufacturing, metrology, quality, and supply chain.\r\nTranslate customer requirements into executable technical and manufacturing plans.\r\nLead design reviews, technical interchange meetings (TIMs), and internal program reviews.\r\nManage subcontractors and key suppliers for optical materials, coatings, fabrication, and testing.\r\nTrack earned value, cost performance, and schedule performance; implement corrective actions as needed.\r\nLead proposal development, cost estimating, and transition from proposal to execution.\r\nEnsure compliance with contractual, quality, and documentation requirements.\r\nIdentify process improvements to increase efficiency, predictability, and scalability.\r\nRequired Qualifications\r\nBachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics, or related technical field.\r\n5+ years of program or project management experience in precision optics, photonics, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing.\r\nWorking knowledge of optical fabrication, coating, metrology, and alignment processes.\r\nExperience managing schedules, budgets, and technical risk for high-value, low-volume programs.\r\nStrong customer-facing communication and negotiation skills.\r\nAbility to operate independently in a small, fast-paced organization.\r\nPreferred Qualifications\r\nMaster’s degree in engineering, Optics, or Business\r\nPMP or equivalent program management certification\r\nExperience with government or aerospace contracts\r\nFamiliarity with ITAR, ISO 9001, or AS9100 environments\r\nHands-on technical background in optics or opto-mechanical systemsKey Competencies\r\nTechnical credibility with engineers and manufacturing teams\r\nStrong organizational and prioritization skills\r\nClear, concise written and verbal communication\r\nRisk-driven decision making\r\nAdaptability and comfort with ambiguityWhat We Offer\r\nOpportunity to lead cutting-edge optics programs with direct customer impact\r\nHigh visibility and influence in a growing small business\r\nCollaborative, technically driven culture\r\nCompetitive compensation and benefits\r\nThis position is subject to US export control laws, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), which require US person status.
