Part-Time Research Assistant, Health Equity and Action LabUniversity of Illinois Urbana-ChampaignDr. Violeta Rodriguez is seeking a part-time Research Assistant to support ongoing and upcoming NIH-funded research at UIUC. This position is designed for individuals preparing for graduate training (e.g., PhD, MD, or related fields) who are seeking intensive experience in scientific writing, statistical analysis, and grant development within a high-impact research environment. The lab focuses on parenting, emotion regulation, and health equity using multimethod approaches (e.g., national surveys, qualitative interviews, ecological momentary assessment, actigraphy).Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Research Assistant will be embedded in the lab’s core analytic and writing workflow and will contribute directly to peer-reviewed and grant-funded research:Supporting manuscript development, including drafting sections, revising drafts, and preparing submissions to journalsConducting data analysis (primarily in R), including data cleaning, statistical modeling, and generating publication-ready tables and figuresContributing to grant development, including synthesizing literature, drafting sections, and preparing materials for NIH and related submissionsManaging complex datasets across multiple studies, including large-scale survey and intensive longitudinal dataSupporting project coordination and mentoring undergraduate research assistantsThis role prioritizes writing, analysis, and intellectual contribution, with targeted involvement in data collection (e.g., interviews, surveys) to support ongoing projects and ensure strong understanding of study design and data generation.About the Lab:  https://publish.illinois.edu/healthequitylab/Qualifications: Applicants should:Hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology, data science, statistics, or a related fieldDemonstrate strong interest in research careers and graduate trainingHave prior experience with research writing and/or statistical analysisBe highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects independentlyPreferred:Experience with R or similar statistical programming languagesStrong foundation in quantitative methods (e.g., regression, psychometrics)Prior experience contributing to manuscripts, theses, or research reportsPosition DetailsPart-time (20–25 hours/week)Hourly position, starting at $21/hour (negotiable based on experience)Minimum 1-year commitment, with the possibility of renewalStart date: on or before August 1, 2026To Apply: Please email vjrodrig@illinois.edu with questions.
