This position is located in District 61/Unit 751/East Baton Rouge Parish of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Electronic Technician Supervisor. This work includes making programming changes to signal controllers and electrical repairs to various signal components.\nA valid Louisiana Class “D” Chauffeurs License may be required at time of appointment.\nMinimum Qualifications\nNo experience or training is required.\n\nJob Specification\nThe official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.\nJob Duties and Other Information\nJob Duties & Responsibilities:\nMaintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and programs traffic signal systems, controllers, cameras, GPS equipment, and interconnected signal networks.\nConducts inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance of traffic signals to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow.\nPrepares and maintains work orders, inspection reports, loop repair documentation, and traffic signal records for maintenance, audits, and legal testimony.\nCoordinates with traffic engineers and contractors on signal timing, roadway loop repairs, new installations, and system upgrades.\nInstalls, repairs, and maintains electrical systems for bridges, aviation/navigation lighting, generators, motors, transformers, and marine electrical equipment.\nPerforms electrical construction and maintenance for district buildings and facilities, including wiring, conduit, electrical services, and HVAC electrical components.\nDiagnoses and repairs electrical, hydraulic, and control systems using specialized testing equipment, blueprints, and technical documentation.\nTrains and provides guidance to lower-level electricians, apprentices, contractors, and maintenance personnel as needed.\nMaintains accurate electrical blueprints, maintenance records, and inspection documentation to support compliance and operational readiness.\nPerforms additional duties, including emergency and disaster response support, as required.\n\nPosition-Specific Details:\nAppointment Type: Probational\nCareer Progression: This position offers advancement from Trades Apprentice to Electrician, and ultimately Electrician Specialist, based on experience and performance.\nLicensing Requirements: A valid Class “B” Driver’s License is required before permanent appointment.\nCompensation: $16.06 hourly/1,284.80 biweekly\n\nHow To Apply:\nNo Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.\nApplicants are responsible for checking the status of their application to determine where they are in the recruitment process.
