Job DescriptionJob SummaryThe Purchasing Agent/Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services required for metal roofing operations. This role ensures cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality standards, supplier reliability, and timely delivery to support production and project schedules.This position is in-person preferred, with possibility of remote work.Key ResponsibilitiesSource and purchase metal roofing materials such as steel coils, aluminum sheets, fasteners, coatings, insulation, and accessoriesDevelop and maintain relationships with suppliers, mills, and distributorsNegotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to achieve cost savings and favorable conditionsMonitor inventory levels and coordinate with warehouse and production teams to maintain optimal stockIssue purchase orders and track order status to ensure on-time deliveryEvaluate supplier performance based on quality, pricing, and delivery reliabilityStay informed on market trends, including metal pricing fluctuations (steel, aluminum, etc.)Collaborate with project managers and estimators to forecast material needsResolve issues related to delays, shortages, or defective materialsEnsure compliance with company policies and industry regulationsPreferred SkillsUnderstanding of metal markets (steel, aluminum pricing trends)Ability to read construction drawings and material takeoffsExperience with inventory management systemsAnalytical mindset with cost-control focusAbility to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentWork EnvironmentOffice-based with frequent communication with suppliers and internal teamsOccasional visits to warehouses, job sites, or supplier facilitiesMay require extended hours during peak construction seasonsQualifications:QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED is requiredMinimum of two (2) years of purchasing / procurement experience is preferredManufacturing administrative support experience is preferredMust be PC proficient and have a good understanding of Microsoft Office products, e-mail and Internet useStrong customer service skillsAbility to resolve problems both internally and externally with customersAbility to think conceptually and produce desired resultsA combination of education and experience may be qualifyingAdditional InformationOur teams are at the heart of our purpose to positively contribute to the communities where we live, work and play. The US base salary range for this full-time position starts at $45,000+(Based on your experience and qualifications).
