This position performs a variety of estimating duties including quantity take-offs, database input, coordination of bid documents for distribution to Subcontractors, and research of product data and suppliers. Extensive knowledge of constructions costs and the ability to support the overall activities of the Preconstruction team are imperative.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nReviews construction documents for both negotiated and bid projects; determines both the nature and scope of the work to be performed.\nInterfaces with a wide variety of professional people including architects, owner representatives, subcontractors, suppliers, etc.\nWorks with the estimating staff to prepare detailed quantity take-offs for assigned segments of the project and apply unit costs. Using an approved list of contractors, invites subcontractors to submit pricing. Create bid packages that are complete in scope and easy to follow.\nCompiles cost data received for subcontractors for Webcor Estimators. Examines data as it is being received for both accuracy and sufficiency before completing the final estimate.\nAssists in maintaining and updating the master subcontractor list for all trades.\nMay review the work of other staff members for accuracy; offers suggestions as needed before bid data is consolidated.\nTECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED\nWorking knowledge of the following software: WinEst, OST, Revit, HCSS, Excel\nAbility to read and understand drawings and specifications.\nDemonstrate a desire to continue to learn and grow, and a desire for continuous improvement.\nAdept in quickly learning new software, related to drafting, modeling, estimating and scheduling\nWorking knowledge of construction drawings, costs and principals\nUnderstanding of Labor, Equipment, and Material rates.\nAnalytical, highly versatile, extremely organized, have a keen attention to detail\nAbility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment\nBEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED\nAbility to effectively lead, manage and mentor staff.\nClearly defines goals, understands audiences, manages productive meetings, manages and builds team morale\nAdvanced communication skills. Ability to address an audience of various sizes and effectively communicate his/her message and ideas. Ability to write clear and concise thoughts in a professional manner\nAdvanced decision quality and use of sound judgement.\nAdvanced customer focus and the ability to work cohesively with many constituents.\nREQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION\nBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; with preferable two years of experience as a Project Engineer, and with a minimum of five years of diversified estimating and construction experience.\nPrior field experience in civil construction supporting infrastructure work is preferred; Water/Wastewater Treatment Plants and Pump Stations, Substations and Electrical Conveyance, Mass Transit Stations, Horizontal utility development and distribution at a campus level.\nWorking knowledge of infrastructure construction costs, production-based estimating, and unit-pricing contract structures; Water/Wastewater Treatment Plants and Pump Stations, Substations and Electrical Conveyance, Mass Transit Stations, Horizontal utility development and distribution at a campus level.\nWorking knowledge of construction costs and principles\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nPerformance of the required duties will require physical ability to sit for long periods of time at a desk, generally up to 7 hours per day and occasionally standing and walking. Regularly required to use hands to operate standard office equipment (personal computer, photocopy machine, fax machine). Occasionally required to stoop, kneel and lift up to 15 pounds. The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate to loud.\nRange of base pay is $153,000-$168,000.
